‘Asia-Pacific Satellite Executive of the Year’
at the 2023 APSCC Awards

Bangkok, Thailand, October 11, 2023– Patompob (Nile) Suwansiri, Thaicom’s Chief Executive Officer, has been named The Asia-Pacific Satellite Executive of the Year by the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC). Thaicom’s CEO was recognized at the APSCC’s 18th annual awards ceremony, which held on October 10, 2023, at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as part of the APSCC’s 2023 Satellite Conference and Exhibition. The award honored an industry executive’s excellent leadership achievements and the long-term impact of those efforts in the satellite and space industry.

Nile has more than 30 years of experience in the satellite industry. He has been with Thaicom since its inception in 1992 and was appointed as the CEO in 2022. He is currently leading Thaicom to become a leading regional space tech company.

Under his leadership, Nile led Thaicom’s come-back by obtaining the Thai Orbital Slot to secure Thaicom’s future with the right to do business for the next 20 years as well as securing long-term strategic partnerships with global partners to create synergies to strengthen reliable connectivity for Asia-Pacific. He has also worked on transitioning Thaicom from a satellite operator to a regional space technology company, with the goal of attaining long-term profitability through the expansion of its business portfolio and sound financial management. Under Nile’s direction, Thaicom has made a contribution by promoting rural internet connectivity for underserved communities and extending the company’s Sustainable Development initiatives through distant learning via satellite communications.

“It is my great honor to receive the APSCC’s Asia-Pacific Satellite Executive of the Year Award this year,” Nile remarked. “This would not have been achieved without the team of experienced and dedicated professionals at Thaicom. This award is therefore a very important recognition of Thaicom’s contribution to the satellite industry especially in Asia-Pacific. Thaicom will continue our journey to be a leading space tech company in the region while embracing partnerships, fostering industry growth, and giving back to the communities in which we operate as these are the best strategies for Thaicom’s strong long-term growth and success.”
