Orion recognised for achievements in Network Evolution
Perth, 11 September 2020—Orion Satellite Systems—part of the IPA Group of Companies owned by Thaicom—is the proud recipient of the 2020 CRN Impact Award for Network Evolution.
The CRN Impact Awards celebrate technology providers delivering outcomes for customer organisations and building Australia’s innovation economy. Orion received the award for its 2019 partnership with the iconic Spirit of Tasmania—a company which has been operating ferries from mainland Australia to Tasmania since July 1985.
“We are honoured to be recognised with this award. This award is a result of our focus on innovation, our technical capability and by placing our customer at the centre of everything we do. This flexible solution for the Spirit of Tasmania utilised both our own satellite and our satellite on the move technology,” says Shannon Fisher, Managing Director, Orion.
During the online announcement, CRN judge Ian Poole said that Orion stood out due to having an excellent customer referral from Spirit of Tasmania and for having overachieved against the original goal of the project in terms of network availability, throughput and bandwidth.
The implementation of Orion’s geo-remote connectivity solution has resulted in a consistent connection experience for Spirit of Tasmania passengers. The solution has enabled the ferry operators to roll out value add entertainment services whilst in transit. Additionally, staff morale has improved due to increased and reliable communication options for staff and their families.
