KT SAT and Thaicom to strengthen collaboration for the expansion of satellite business in Thailand and contribute to reducing the digital divide.

KT SAT and Thaicom conducted IT volunteer activities at a child care center located in Lat Phrao, Thailand, over two days on December 18 and 19. The activities were carried out in partnership with Thaicom, a local satellite business operator, and with support from the KT Group Hope Sharing Foundation and Hope Friend KIA Foundation.

KT SAT and Thaicom have been building a partnership to meet the increasing demand for satellite communications in Thailand. The core focus of their collaboration is to supply satellite communication networks to remote and underdeveloped areas in Thailand, such as mountainous regions and marine vessels, to bridge the digital divide. Prior to the full-scale implementation of the project, the two companies strengthened their collaboration by initiating joint volunteer activities aimed at improving IT education environments for underprivileged children.

The primary beneficiary of this volunteer program was the Bangkok Grace Foundation, which operates the Bangkok Grace Center—an after-school care center for vulnerable children, including those from low-income and single-parent families. On the first day, the two companies worked to improve the IT learning environment at the center. They installed new digital devices such as computers and smart TVs, replaced bookshelves and desks to create a comfortable learning environment, and repainted the worn-out exterior walls to transform the facility into a safer, brighter space where children can nurture their dreams.

On the second day, an after-school computer class was conducted. KT SAT employees taught children how to operate computers and use essential office applications such as Word and PowerPoint to enhance their digital skills. Following the IT class, the volunteers also provided meal services, offering nutritious meals to children who may lack adequate nutrition. The activities concluded with words of encouragement and support for the children.

A representative from the Bangkok Grace Foundation expressed gratitude, saying, “We sincerely thank KT SAT and Thaicom for actively supporting the children so that they are not left behind in the digital era and can pursue their dreams.”

Patompob Nile Suwansiri, CEO of Thaicom, stated, “We have a strong commitment to the country’s sustainable growth in all aspects of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) as well as developing space technology solutions to enhance a better life. Thus, we are delighted to partner with KT SAT to jointly host this CSR activity, aiming to bridge the connectivity gap for the young generation in Thai society and empower them with connectivity to have a well-being.”

Young-Soo Seo, CEO of KT SAT, commented, “We hope this activity will help bridge the digital divide for children and provide an opportunity for them to freely pursue their dreams. As a global satellite communications provider, KT SAT will continue to support digital transformation in Southeast Asia while fulfilling our social responsibility.”
